13th Slovenian Church Music Festival

 

This year's church music festival took place in Cerklje in Gorenjska from 23rd to 24th October 2004. The Zbor sv. Nikolaja under the leadership of Helena Fojkar Zupančič was invited to this festival for the third time already. The festival itself takes place every two years and its organizers invite various Slovenian church choir that perform works of Slovenian authors. This year's festival was dedicated to the composer Franc Kimovec.

Choirs from Cerklje and the chamber orchestra Sine Nomine presented their work on the first day while the second day was reserved for 5 choirs from Slovenia and abroad: chamber choir Emanuel Celje, chamber choir Adoramus Logatec, mixed choir sv. Jernej Opčine, mixed choir Anton Foerster Ljubljana and the Zbor sv. Nikolaja Litija. Each choir's repertory consisted of three songs; The Zbor sv. Nikolaja chose the following compositions: Iacobus Handl Gallus: Ego flos campi, Ambrož Čopi: Bonus est Dominus, Damijan Močnik: Verbum supernum prodiens.

At the end mr. Damijan Močnik, the president of Cecilia society, presented awards and recognition to the church musicians - jubilants.

And as a conclusion, all choirs joined together and carried out two additional songs; Franc Kimovec: S svojimi perotmi te pokrije Gospod (The Lord covers you with his wings) and Andrej Vavken: Večni Oče (Eternal Father). The event was recorded by Radio Ognjišče.
