Carinthia sings

On Sunday 12th March 2006 the Zbor sv. Nikolaja took part at the "Koroška poje" (Carinthia sings) music event in the Concert hall in Klagenfurt, Austria. This event is organized every year by the Krščanska kulturna zveza (The Christian Culture Union). This year it was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Sodalitas and to 100 years of Simon Gregorčič's death.
The Sodalitas is a society of Slovenian priests in the diocese of Krško. It was founded by the bishop of Krško Joseph Kahn and its main purpose is the consecration of new priests and to offer support in their pastoral work. The society is given merits in spiritual as well as cultural growth. Simon Gregorčič, nick-named »Goriški slavček« or the Nightingale of Goriza, was born 1844 in Vrsno near Kobaridu. His poems' main theme was the love for his country and Slovenianhood. His poems are considered to be the peak of poetical creativity in the second half of the 19th century.

The solemn speaker was Bernarda Fink and, among others, bishop dr. Alois Schwarz and archbishop metropolitan msgr. Alojzij Uran.
Event's other performers were Oktet duhovnikov ljubljanske škofije, Zbor šolskih sester in duhovnikov Sodalitete, Marko Fink, Mixed Choir J.P.Gallus, Mixed Choir Danica and Mixed Choir Hrast from Doberdob.
