Christmas Concert

The annual christmas concert tradition has continued this year too with Zbor sv. Nikolaja and its conductor Helena Fojkar Zupančič having a christmas concert on 25th December 2007 in Litija's church, which was packed with people, who were inspired by the subtle interpretation of Matija Tomc's Slovenski Božič, accompanied the organist Primož Malavašič. The story of Jesus's birth, the choir's and soloists' performance as well as a manger set in the middle created a true christmas atmosphere and enriched Tomc's composition.

In the second part of the concert the Nikolajev otroški zbor (St. Nicholas children choir), conducted by Klavdija Zupančič, performed the Slovene christmas songs "kolednice" and Jesus' birth was honoured by the Three kings. The story was continued by Zbor sv. Nikolaja with more "kolednice", some of which more than 100 years old. Both choirs were accompanied by Blaž Kladnik on zither and Krunoslav Križ on the accordion.

The whole scene was enriched by the choir wearing the traditional Slovene garments and the the authentic scenery. So the christmas tidings passed on to the audience and filled the listeners with the serenity of the christmas night.
